Sleep is Crummy

Last night

Sleep fight

Painful tummy

Sleep is crummy

But it’s not my thoughts that were keeping me awake..,

Today is world sleep day my meditation app tells me. I find it ironic that last night was one of my bad nights. I discovered today that one of the low fat frozen meals I truly enjoy has Xanthan gum in it. Xanthan gum is an additive used as a thickening agent. Xanthan gum is NOT my friend. I won’t be eating that meal again.

My entire household was up at 3:00-something last night. Son #1 had a low blood sugar issue, son #2 was trying to figure out what the cat was screeching about in the basement, and I was sick and couldn’t sleep.

I am moving very slowly today.

Not the most interesting of posts. Sorry.

Me waiting for the PA today.

My gallbladder was considered interesting enough that it was chosen to be the week’s teaching tool. It was discussed at a doctor’s conference. (Case reviewed at the intradepartmental GI pathology consensus conference.) I’m glad it did something useful anyway. I’m well rid of it.

The pathology report said my gallbladder was full of stones and the cystic bile duct (the one they remove with the gallbladder) was blocked by a rather large gallstone. That was the reason for my near constant pain.

Thankfully, no cancer was found.

My gallbladder was an Intrahepatic gallbladder (within the liver). This is one of the ectopic locations of the gallbladder. It’s classed as a congenital (present from birth) anomaly and is rare. An intrahepatic gallbladder usually has impaired function because it does not empty completely, with many such patients developing gallstones as a result of bile stasis. Consequently, a large number of patients will require surgery.

I’m healing well, and I’m now down 15 pounds.

I Miss My Work

I miss my work, the parts, pieces and components of it. I’m a detail oriented person and what I do involves a lot of document analysis, review and dissection. I then input information and due dates into a docketing or tickler system. I’m very good at what I do.

With my surgery date looming closer, it was necessary and essential for others to learn how to do my job so that the work would continue to be processed while I am out. Two people have split my work between them. My days now consist of reviewing their completion of my work. They are doing great.

I am doing nothing.

I miss my work.
